first day of work! There's a cat there, yay! I have to go do a field trip tomorrow. boss seems trustworthy.[More:]

The cat is black with a white bib and white paws, and is a vocal lady cat who struts around in proud possession of the entire planet.

Edited stuff today. Got Outlook and a scanner working. Ok, technology, be good. Like me. I will take good care of you.

Tomorrow, a field trip. To assist at a meeting at the Y.

Please, God, don't let me screw this job up. Let me do well, let me keep a sense of balance. Let me be strong, my best self.
Office cat, yaay! Good luck, By the Grace of God.

Yay, a Tuxedo cat!

If you get stressed, take five minutes and spend it with the kitty.

You'll do better than fine, Grace. In stressful moments, remind yourself that, when they hired you, they were willing to raise their pay offer, and they felt lucky you were joining them. Takes a lot of screwing up to change such expectations.

Don't stress you'll be fine - any office with a cat is obviously relaxed enough to understand that we all stuff up from time to time, anyway. If you managed to get some things working on your first day (I'm assuming they weren't prior to that), you are already a hero in their eyes.

Is it becoming more common for people to have pets in the office? There are two scotties that run around my new office. You can also bring in your own dog on Fridays.

I'm glad that you've got a new job, BTGOG. I'm sure you'll do fine. :)

An office cat? How many kinds of awesome is that?!

And Grace, you'll do great. Take deep breaths, take notes and don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something.

Wow, do I ever wish we could have a cat or dog around here. One of my favorite things about when we had a Level-2 snow emergency (if you're not essential, like ER personnel or something, you'd better have one hell of a good story to tell the cop who pulled you over, else plan on at least a stiff fine) was that Aya, my economy-size black cat, kept me company while I worked from home.
