Weekend plans. Discuss.→[More:]On Saturday I am going to see Hot Fuzz. And do laundry.
On Sunday I am going to my cousin's for a cookout and so that all the dogs can play. I will be taking Orange Swan's Cucumber and Apple Salad.
I have five scheduled interviews tomorrow, plus I must return at least seven phone calls which will probably end up being seven other interviews via telephone.
I will be weighing the pros and cons of joining the rah-rah corporate world. The prospect of a small child's red wagon full of cash is tempting. On the other hand, I am deathly allergic to neckties and all that they represent.
Also on tap: cooking, dog-walking, taking the cat to the vet, hockey playoffs, and a set on Radio Metachat Sunday morning.
Am thinking of getting the bicycle out tomorrow afternoon, maybe bike to the ice cream shop to replenish all of those burned calories. Poker game Saturday night, at which I expect to clean out the table. Sunday brunch with one or two of my siblings and their families, and Sunday afternoon with a sister-in-law at a woman's event thing. Tonight, a bubble bath.
Tomorrow one of my friends is having a party. I'm dressing up like a pirate because it is a pirate party.
Sunday--I think Sunday I'm mostly vegging and doing some work that I've been putting off. I also need to research grad schools and other things like that. And maybe look for a new job. And sleep. Oh yes sleep.
Having said good-bye to the rah-rah world of a corporate red wagon full of cash exactly one week ago, I had to spend the night wishing someone well after a promotion...
Gym today and hopefully tomorrow.
Finish off the work I brought home.
Football late afternoon.
AA meeting tonight.
Housework/laundry/supermarket tomorrow.
Three weeks in the new place, and we still have one last room half full of boxes - and we haven't even been lazy! With luck, by the end of today (Saturday), those boxes will be gone, except for the books that we don't have bookcases for yet.
If this is the case, then tomorrow I want to get out of the house for once and I'm hoping to go to Plaka and see the Greek Folk Art Museum. I won't be suprised if this idea is subverted, however, by friends popping up with other plans. In fact, I won't be surprised if we still have a room half full of boxes tonight because of friends popping up with other plans.
Other than that, I have some purple daisies to plant in our little built-in planter box by our tiny back "terrace". We've already planted a ficus tree and geraniums there. In fact, yesterday I counted that we have bought 13 plants so far - all for outside (most in pots), including another ficus, a gardenia bush, a mint and an oregano plant for my planned potted kitchen garden, some daisies, moss roses (I think that's what they're called), and something big and bloomingful that I don't know the name of. We also want some large indoor ficus (or similar) trees, but the guy we've spoken to about this hasn't contacted us back.
I'm also feeling further flowery because the Friday street market I go to has cut flowers at good prices, so I have flowers in every room, all the time, which I really love. In Thessaloniki, we lived just a couple blocks away from the famous "louloudadika" (flower market), but it was just too expensive to be useful to me.
Also, the weather is so crushingly beautiful, and the birds so warblingly wonderful, I'm verklempt.
after what seems like nothing but work for 2 months (OK, there were two weeks in Spain in between, but those were active holidays not the lounging around by the pool-type holiday ((which would be difficult in 13 C and a snow-strom in the south of Spain)), I have the pictures to prove it people) Anyway, I seem like I have amassed a weekend's worth of laundry and housework!
And it's beautiful outside probably going to be 20 C on the south coast. I'm really dying to do the incredible Bluebell walk at a nearby country house and just take in the variety of blossoming trees around.
Spring makes living here worthwhile. Here in rural Sussex, the colours are like the Fall colours in Conneticut only paler, cherry blossom, bluebells, snowdrops, hawthorn, apple blossom, at least 2 of the above should not be blooming together, but hey?, this global warming thing sure is pretty!!!
Saturday: No idea what I'm doing all day. Maybe yardwork! Because I'm home for the weekend! Tonight we're going out to Carrabba's for an early birthday dinner, since my birthday is on a Monday and I'm at college.
Sunday: No clue!
Hooray for mostly open schedules! Hooray for almost-birthdays! Hooray for yardwork (I never thought I'd say/type that)!
Hiking or climbing, haven't decided which yet.
Wash the damn car and finally get those little sap spots off the hood.
There's an abandoned mental hospital nearby I've been meaning to bring my camera to, today seems like a good day for it.
Laundry, food shopping, and probably some cooking.
Really, though, I just want Monday to be here - I have a date and it's making me really anxious.
Clean & junk out the shed and the basement. Sort all the garden stuff and box it. Borrow a friends' truck to take basement & shed junk to a dumpster somewhere. Clean the whole house. Start sorting stuff into sell/toss/keep piles. Help daughter move her stuff out of house.
Fuck. Not as in a weekend plan but as in, fuck, moving sucks, I still don't have a place to live and I don't know wtf I'm going to do.
I have some labwork that needs to be finished on either sat or sun. Also I am spending sat night at a friend's while he's away. He has a diabetic cat that requires shots every 12 hours in order to live. So, I may also unintentionally kill a cat this weekend.
Last night I had some friends over, and I got my first noise-complaint visit from the friendly local coppers. I'm really hoping this doesn't represent hours of frustration that finally boiled over into a call. Secondly, why didn't my neighbors just complain to me in person?
Today, we're getting hair cuts, going to the yarn store, and the library. Then, hopefully our exercise bike will arrive and we can assemble it (won't that be fun). Sunday is Denny's and bowling day. Then laundry.
The high holy holiday has left me underslept and a bit queasy (didn't eat until very late, on top of mojito mountain) and i have vintage Charlie's Angels hair as i try to get ready for a birthday lunch with moms. It really is all about the hairspray.
Let's see. Last night I went down to Mountain View to see Scrump, Tangerine, et al.
This morning I will perhaps make congo bars (blond brownies with chocolate chips and walnuts). In a couple of hours I will trek over to Berkeley to go to the Earth Day concert in People's Park. A friend of mine is playing her music.
Tonight I plan to go to Sacramento (sigh, long drive) to attend a friend's birthday party. Then home. The end.
Last night I made essexjan's Mediterranean Chicken. This morning I was on the soccer field for two games. It is a gorgeous day, just gorgeous. Back home, while the kids played outside, I did laundry and loaded dishwasher. My husband works on weekends, so we don't have the traditional weekend plans/together time like most peoples. But we do during the week, which is nice. Everything is less crowded.
Tonight I wanted to see "The Lives of Others", but I don't have a sitter, and I don't have the heart to ask my sister. Sister wants to bring dinner over, so we'll probably watch a movie.
