Nic Cage's new movie is called "Next." As in: "Nic Cage has a new movie? Next!"
Hah. It'll probably be better than "The Hardy Men", starring Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller. For reals. It's about the Hardy Boys 30 years later or some such thing. Because we just can't get enough mediocre buddy movies.
I liked nicky cage in Raising Arizona and Valley Girl. And he was fucking awesome as Fu Manchu in Werewolf Women of the SS. But everything else is unwatchable.
And I didn't need to know about the Cruise/Stiller vehicle. And "The Hardy Men" sounds like a gay porn spoof of the Hardy Boys.
I liked him in '8mm'. I thought he portrayed a man whose moral compass was thrown completely out of whack really well - the mental deterioration from start to end of the movie was almost tangible.
Speak no ill of my great true love!! I don't care if he makes terrible movies - I love him and always will and I want to bear his children - or at least spend a long, long time working on the getting pregnant part - ;-) and I don't even care if I have to name them weird Superman things. I fell in love with him in Valley Girl and it's been probably the longest, most meaningful romantic relationship of my whole life. Mmmmmmmmmmm, Nic Cage.
If you're looking for the Philip K. Dick mindfuck, you will get it.
He also described, [It's] based on a Philip K. Dick short story about a man who has the prescient ability to see two minutes within his own future.
Cage goes into some further details on the story as well, He keeps seeing this girl played by Jessica Biel, and he doesn't know why he keeps seeing her. He's got to find out, and when he does, he realizes he can actually see further ahead when she's there. It's romantic, too. And Jessica Biel is great in it.
Next is based on Dick's The Golden Man, however from what I have read about this movie version, the only bit they kept was that the main character can see two minutes into the future. The rest of the plot and the entire theme appear to have been scrapped.
