OMG Self-link Kitty! Our cat Tito (one of 3 presently), whom we adopted from the alley, sleeps like this at least half the time he's asleep.
Oh my goodness, my dearly departed Evie used to sleep like that too. She would fall asleep and her head would drop down; I would sometimes check to make sure that she was still breathing, it looked like she was smothering herself. I have a photo of her in that position somewhere, hang on, I'll find it...
Well he was an alley cat. . .for a month, I used to sick the dog on him if he was around, in that we had 3 cats already at the time, but then he was obviously a stray, and had a flea collar which was starting to choke him, as he grew, so I got the dog to quit chasing him and we finally coaxed him near enough to catch him, and cut the flea collar off, and the rest is history.
He "picks" on our special needs cat, and barfs up his food occasionally but those are his only drawbacks.
I will admit to a brief moment of panic thinking that danf stole my cat Bacco; same colouring, same weird sleep position. And yes, I think it's something to do with the light.
My old cat Bella used to do this and I loved catching the moment when she lost the struggle to stay awake and her face would drop and not come up again.
My cat Charlie does this!! I've got to find pictures, I know I have them around somewhere (pre-digital is my best bet). Charlie loves to perch on smaller things (like boxes) and as soon as he's asleep, he falls off whatever he's perched on. He's a beautiful cat, but dippy.
