Oh I love the hooded rats. Long-Evans strain. My pet rats were those creamy coloured ones, back in the day.

I have a horrible feeling that child will grow up to be exactly like my sister.

What do you mean, ej? She reminds me of the kid from that sci-fi channel series, Taken.

It's sort of hard to articulate. But I'm uncomfortable with the childcentric model of parenting where the child is treated like (and presented to the world as) some demigod. I think it inevitably leads to problems in later life.

This is so cute. The way they explore cooperatively and independently at the same time. I've had a lot of different kinds of pets. Rats are, by far, my favorite non-cat|dog pet.

Very cute! Too bad rats are so short lived (2-4 years). I'd love to have some but that would break my heart.

And yeah, Bunny is beautiful, but I'm with EJ. I hope they don't put her in the child beauty pageants (like JonBenet).

I don't understand how these rats can be so cute-seeming, when their wild cousins raise my hackles.

And on the topic of the kid, I've either seen that flickr site before, or seen some of the photos before. She may be photogenic, but there's something creepy about either the subject or the presentation, I'm not sure which. I get the weird feeling that if the antichrist was a four-year-old girl, she'd look just like this.
