A Man and His Car [More:]I have a 93 Honda Civic EX coupe that looks pretty good, runs really well, and gets great gas mileage. I'm getting a little bored with our relationship, but the last thing I want to do is buy another car and deal with car payments. I installed a new CD player to improve the ambiance, but I'm looking for other ideas to help make my car fun to drive.

I'm not interested in pimping it out, by the way.

Ideas?
Well, you could work on aesthetics, or performance (be that efficiency or acceleration or carrying capacity or something else), or comfort/luxury/whatnot. Maybe something else, too, but I can't think of it right now. Are any of those broad categories especially appealing?

(If it was me, I'd get some new speakers, and maybe a modest amplifier, to go with the new CD player. Or perhaps I'd get the a/c coolant recharged, presuming that nobody has done that since 1993.)

Maybe get it detailed? Engine bay and everything--it'll look like new.

Could you turn it into a foosball table when you're not driving it?

I like the comfort/luxury route. Maybe something like a wooden shift knob. Hmmmm... Detailing's not a bad idea either.

Go to a Civic forum (try googling 'Honda Civic forum'). They can probably tell you all kinds of neat little things you can do to your car to make it more to your liking. Maybe a handling mod, perhaps even just new tires that make you feel more in control. That can make the car a lot more fun to drive.

If you enjoy bicycling or skiing or snowboarding or anything like that, and you don't have a rack, maybe you could get one of those.

Comfort/luxury, eh? Besides the shift knob, you could get covers for the seats or the dash or whatnot (or, if you want to throw more money around, completely new seats). Or you could add additional sound insulation to the interior. Along similar lines, window tint can make the car incrementally quieter, and a lot cooler in the summer. And in the same way that you can modify the suspension and tires and so forth to make the car handle better, you can also modify these components to get a softer ride.

I love the idea of adding sound insulation. The idea that I could modify the suspension never occurred to me, but I like it. I'll give the forums a shot, too. Cool!

Seats can make a huge difference that you can feel without needing to look different to the uneducated eye. Maybe a set of leather power somethings out of an Accord. Very discreet.

OMG RATTIES! || I really want to lay down on the floor of my office and take a nap.
