12 April 2007

Help me make my ass smaller. I need some music to exercise to. I like to just put some tunes on and go crazy and dance around like an idiot...so fun. [More:]

I'd like pop and hip-hop stuff and guilty pleasure music, so feel freel to mention songs by Britney Spears or Junior Senior...that's exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Fast, upbeat songs. Mmmm bop.

I dance like this, although I have no rhythm. It's not really a pretty sight. Not as bad as Elaine from Seinfeld, though.
Iconomy, I know somebody who lost something like 40 lbs from playing Dance Dance Revolution. If you don't have downstairs neighbors, I highly recommend it.

Seconded. A few years ago I dropped twenty pounds with that game, in two months.

Smaller ass? Perche? : )

I got quite the burst of laughter from my students one day when I happened to say, "That's why I love the Bronx. They appreciate booty here."

I once went through my music for this purpose and pulled out all the songs less than 2 1/2 minutes. Then I deleted the real tearjerkers, but kept other slow songs just for the breather.

Thus, I highly recommend Chuck Berry's "The Great 28".

Jungle Boogie - Kool and the Gang
Groove Is In The Heart - Dee-lite
Sabotage-Beastie Boys
Fight the Power - Public Enemy
Town Called Malice - The Jam
Sin Wagon - The Dixie Chicks (What? Hoedown moves are great for the ol' keister.)
Let's Go Crazy - Prince
ABC-Jackson Five
One Step Beyond - Madness
Tatooed Love Boys - Pretenders
If I Should Fall From Grace With God - Pogues
Stand-REM (Do the little dance from the video: 1,2,3,4, open, close, kick, turn!)

Anything by: George Clinton, Sly Stone or James Brown

Now mock me for being a dork with conventional taste in music. I care not for I got the funky stuff.

And how could no one have suggested Sir Mix-a-lot's Baby Got Back? Now shake that, shake that, shake that healthy butt!

YES! Totally use "Fight the Power" and do Rosie Perez' chereography for this song from the opening sequence of "Do the Right Thing" for it too. Just watching her dance in the opening will make you sweat.

I heartily recommend "Sexy Results [MSTRKRFT Edition]" (First song on the playlist) by now defunct Death from Above 1979. It's quite apropos since recently I've been playing this song a lot and each time I play it, I want to shake my booty...not exactly fast, but immensely danceable. If you're already into hip hop or r&b some of these are probably just repeats of what you already have, but a small sampling of suggestions:

"You Can Do It" - Ice Cube
"Lose Control" - Missy Elliot
"Get Low" - Yin Yang Twins (sorry, but you did say guilty pleasures and booty dancing to booty music seems to be one of mine)
"Push It" - Salt and Pepa
"Poison" - Bell Biv and Devoe
"It Takes Two" - Rob Base and DJ EZ-Rock
"Jump Around" - House of Pain (Jump around and lose the pounds!)
"Shake Ya Ass" - Mystikal
"Let's Get Down" - Tony Tone Toni

Mayhaps The Go! Team?

If you really want to shave the pounds try, just try, dancing to Outkast's "B.O.B.(Bomb's Over Baghdad)." Never again is all I will say to that.

I'm going to include Mista FAB's "Ghostride It" to represent some hyphy and hyphy's just fun and silly to dance to and...well, it's a song about ghostriding the whip for crying out loud.

This thread is useless without pictures.

The two dancey songs I can't get out of my head are:
Goldfrapp - Strict Machine
Madonna - Hung Up (SDP Extended Vocal)

I admit to not exercising to either, however.
