Is it just me or... [More:] do the fortune teller's eyes move???? I swear, I'm minding my own business, reading MeCha, and over by the margin, I see the eyes move from straight ahead to toward the middle of the page. Am I going crazy, or is it some kind of optical illusion involving the black and white checkerboard effect??

AAAAHHHHHHHH!

It just did it AGAIN!
I solve the problem the same way I keep George Washington from giving me the evil eye from every dollar bill I spend: Just punch out the eyes with a paperclip. Works especially well on LCD monitors.

Considering it's a jpeg and not a gif, it's just you.

Don't you see things moving in that jpeg, CitrusFreak12?

It's the deep fried rabbit ears.

Wow. The comments on that post are nuts, and the response is great.

I think I figured it out writing the first post, and GeckoDundee's jpg confirms it in my mind.... when I get to a certain point on the page and my eye does the "carriage return" from the end of one line to the begining of the next, the black-and-white checkerboard gives the illusion of movement to my eye. Because my mind expects the checkerboard to be stationary, but eyes can move, my mind's eye extrapolates out to convince me the eyes moved.

And when I was writing that first post and wrote "AAAAHHHHHHHH!".... it really did happen to me right at that moment. ;-)

dano, that is The. Best. Thing. Evar. Even if it does make my head spin and my eyeballs fall out of my head, I love it so much.

Mochicrunk has made one comment and that one comment made me giggle. Welcome, mochicrunk!

And dano's picture makes me miss my college days.

at the risk of overexplaining the joke that everyone is slyly running with:

jpegs do not support animation, whereas gifs do, and so the acknowledge perception of movement can be divorced from the possibility of actual sly animation in jpegs such as the one prompting this discussion. QE motherfuckin D.
