Absolute Bottom 50 Punk Band Names What was the most cringeworthy band name you witnessed live?→[More:]Mine is either The Salivation Army or The Her-pees.
Well, there was the Jesus Rape Trial many years back... my mind's blanking on bad ones though. There was a band in Vancouver that had the very cool name of The Four Food Groups of the Apocalypse. Bad ones... I'll have to think. So tired.
Aaah, the Dayglo's. I've lost count of how many times I've seen them. And The Spores, Death Sentence, AKOB and NG3 at John Barley's and the Arts Club (on Seymour). (all of which, bands and venues, are now defunct. *sniff*)
But back on topic, how's about the Bludgeoned Pigs? Or even The Fetal Pigs?
oh, and that should've been Jesus Rape Trials
Vancouver was great for fuck bands in the 80's.
Lots of use of circular saws and steel drums in conjunction with one another
They had dreams of being a Savage Aural Hotbed knockofff. I don't think they played a whole show without either/or blowing the fuses or massive bleeding wounds... sometimes both.
The Kustom Kar Kommandos at the Riviera 15 years ago, opening for Naked Raygun. Everyone booed continuously through their first song, and then went apeshit cheering the second it ended. Pissed, the lead singer screamed into the mike: "THE LOUDER YOU YELL, THE LONGER WE'LL PLAY!" Within seconds, three huge straightedge guys jumped on to the stage and started beating the crap out of him. Memorable performance, to be sure.
While I get the feeling that list isn't real, I did know some of the people in a short-lived band called FUCK YOU, DAD. I don't think the name's that bad.
I cringe every time I see "Statch & The Rapes" on a flyer around town because a) FEAR did their schtick better and b) their name is terrible.
Bag of Fred played for a couple years in Ohio. I only saw them at a party where some drunken bystander was repeatedly swerving scant millimeters from the bassist's axe.
