Last year it was CBGBs, this year it's the Hammersmith Palais Dammit. I think I had some great nights here in the late 70s and early 80s!
that is a shame.

funny about that article - that's the first time i've ever seen the word "trustafarian" in the international press. we've been using that word for years - i think i first heard it while living in arcata, ca in the early 90s. how long before it makes it into the OED?

syntax, it's already there.

Trustafarian, n. (and a.)

colloq. (chiefly Brit.).

A wealthy young (white) person with a bohemian lifestyle, typically one who adopts aspects of the appearance and culture of other ethnic groups (esp. Rastafarians) and lives in or frequents a fashionable, multicultural area. Freq. mildly derogatory. Also as adj.

Quotations:1992 Washington Times 26 Aug. C3/2 Then there's ‘Trustafarian’, which describes a ‘guy who has long hair and a trust fund, drives a Saab or Jeep, listens to reggae, and doesn't let a whole lot bother him.’ 1994 Guardian 8 Jan. (Weekend Suppl.) 15/3 Here..is the home of ‘Trustafarians’ - rich white kids who subscribe to the notion of West London bohemia - and here, for the older generation, is a politically correct mix of creeds, colours and ideologies. 1996 Times 19 Nov. 15/1 The Sloane Ranger has been dead for years... The Trustafarian, also known as the OK Yardie or Notting Hillbilly, is now yesterday's trendy - idle, druggy, wallowing in inherited wealth and failing to make any contribution in the new Nineties meritocracy. 2001 M. BLAKE 24 Karat Schmooze v. 48 Under the sallow skin, fine bones in her face came out of breeding. Put that with the dreads and she got a Trustafarian vibe.
