I'd like to know more about those 'A String Quartet Tribute to Whoever' albums. Really, I'd like to read a well-written essay about 'em, or maybe watch a documentary, but that may be asking too much.

Sounds like Apocalyptica

One of the neat things about Apocalyptica is that they managed to capture the energy of Metallica, and even much of the sound, while while creating something original. These kids, it seems, just took it upon themselves to record muzak versions of Metallica songs, and figured no one would notice, as long as they posed next to their harps in some midriff-exposing outfits.
