How's your Sunday going? [More:]I've had a mixed day so far. I went to Harlow to take a jacket back to TK Maxx that I bought last week and then changed my mind about. I looked for another, but couldn't see anything that wasn't either old-lady frumpy or too small. And that was in every shop I looked in, not just TK Maxx. I mean, I know I am chunky (UK size 14, US 12), but even things that were the 'right' size had sleeves so narrow I couldn't lift up my arms. And the chain stores that sell non-old-lady things had nothing - nothing - in my size at all, everything was size 8-12 (US 4-8).

But I did get some silicone bakeware in TK Maxx. I was given a round baking dish for Christmas and I love it, so I grabbed the chance to buy a loaf pan, square pan, muffin pan and a big round pie dish at discount prices. I may go back another time for the Bundt pan, I'll see.

There's a peppered beef stew simmering in the slow cooker, so I have a lovely dinner for later. I'll have it with broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage (it already contains a load of carrots, and I'll mushrooms shortly). If I have room afterwards, I'll make roasted pineapple with Greek yoghurt.

Oh, and reading the local paper, I see that we are getting yet another frou-frou shop in our local high street. Over the past ten years all the 'proper' shops have gone - the newsagent, fishmonger, motor spares, butcher, hardware, pet supplies, Italian deli, bakery - to be replaced by 'designer' this and that.

Now we have boutiques selling clothes that have no prices on them so they are obviously out of my price range and most definitely do not stock anything in my size, florists, perfumiers, jewellers, designer kitchen and furniture shops, estate agents, Pilates studios, restaurants and cafes, TWO designer wedding boutiques, gift stores, and lots and lots of hairdressers, tanning salons, nail bars, beauty salons and, of course, the Botox clinic.

So it says in the paper that there is what is described as a "pet couture" store about to open where the little stationery and printing business closed down a few months ago. And I expect the dippy bleached blonde fake tan plastic fingernail designer-clad harridan who runs it for a hobby has absolutely no idea of the difference between "designer" and "couture" either.
I crapped away most of last night screwing around on the internet because I felt tired. In hindsight, I wish I'd gone out. And now I've crapped away most of this morning and half of the afternoon screwing around on the internet.

But now I get to spend a pleasant rest of Mothering Sunday hanging out and catching up with me mum, so it's all good.

I slept in a bit. This morning I was finishing up some work in another room. The kids retrieved a bottle of apple cider vinegar from the fridge and proceeded to drop and break it. I had a little hissy fit that I'm not proud of.

I'm doing laundry, cleaning, and going for a walk later. All very boring. This week is Spring Break and I'm not scheduled to work until Saturday so I am wondering what to do this week with the family. The ocean isn't swimmable until June. It's too cold until then.

I'm thinking of something to cook for dinner tonight that is healthy and interesting.

Chris, in a way I wish I had went out last night too. I'm always complaining that my social life is lacking, it isn't that bad, but I stayed home anyway.

Up until half an hour from now it will have been going superbly. Coffee, bagels, kids listening to music and playing by themselves, me reading the news (in english and greek), talking to you guys and such.

However, in half hour I will have to get up, get dressed, dress the kids, and go to a greek restaurant where a friend is showing A touch of spice, accompanied with foods from Asia Minor. That should be fun, or not, with the kids and all.

I didn't sleep very well- the upstairs neighbors were having some sort of jump around and make a lot of noise party last night. I'm not sure if it woke me up or kept me awake, but I was up for a few hours. Not sure if it was the noise or me being angry about the noise that kept me up, either. I didn't go to church; I probably could have, but skipping choir and going to church without a good reason gets you funny looks from a few of the people, and it's annoying. So I just stayed home and slept for a few hours.

Meetup tonight!

Got up late, slept in, and didn't go to the office until noon.
Called up a friend of mine who's in Tucson and wished him a Happy Birthday. (Thank goodness for Net Phones--one rupee fifty paise a minute--too cheap!)
Started freaking out a bit that I might not be up to par for the job that I got hired for. Luckily, while I was having my breakdown a friend of mine called up who's been in the same boat, although he's quite experienced now himself, so was able to talk me through my anxieties.
Went for the evening showing of Water.
Have an off tomorrow, so will try and take it easy:)

I slept in this morning and would have lingered longer if I hadn't been woken by a call around 10:30 from the massage clinic to say that the RMT I had an appointment with had injured himself and would I be able to come in earlier in the afternoon?

I got up, brewed some coffee, ate a cheese and jalepeno bagel and read yesterday's paper since today's appears to be MIA. I did a load of laundry and now must get ready to head out for my massage.

Mischief - I am so sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy, mischief. I lost my mother over 20 years ago and can't say I ever totally got over it.

Cripes mischief. I am so sorry.

FWIW, we are having a pretty lazy day. Ev and I ran an errand to go pick me up a new pair of 501s, because Jen accidentally cut the leg off of one of my 2 decent pairs to use for patches.

We had a great night last night. Jen and her friend Melissa spent the afternoon recording, and then, got home at about 6:30. I had made Aglio e Olio with the addition of some red peppers and a wicked salad with some baby romaine, really nice feta and balsamic. I also added a bit of pure cranberry juice I had, just for some extra zing. We hung out all night, and that was about it.

After breakfast today, we found out that some close friends were in for a big day. Rob was heading back from Montreal, having played there last night, while Jan was up at the hospital, fixing to give birth. Everyone is good, Rob made it in time, and Audrey has now met her mom and dad. Quite the day.

Wow. The circle of life portrayed here. Mischief's loss, and richat's friends' gain. Angels changing places.

sorry. been a bit pensive around here. my father-in-law is not doing well at all.
