Interesting, never heard of it. The wikipedia article has some more information.

Fascinating. Says a lot about how quickly some doctors label patients.

This experiment was recounted as part of Adam Curtis' documentary series "Whatever Happened To Our Dreams Of Freedom" shown last sunday on BBC2 (Parts two and three on subsequent sundays BBC2) This first of three films looked at how our traditional models of freedom were derived from ideas developed by nuclear strategists during the Cold War. It examines how people have become trapped into thinking there is only one type of liberty and every other form is considered deviant and to be oppressed. Adam Curtis believes this has led to all manner of chaos and death. Fascinating and scary, it's bound to be repeated, but after a quick scan around I can't find out when or where. UK bunnies, keep a look out on BBC2, 3 and 4.

I've always found this experiment deeply suspicious, and agenda driven. It shouldn't surprise anyone at all that if you go to a doctor with fake psychiatric symptoms you might still get investigations or treatment for a presumptive diagnosis. If you were to visit your family doctor complaining of third person hallucinations, your doctor will wonder whether you are developing some form of psychosis. And because psychotic patients usually lack insight into their condition, the "label" of depression or schizophrenia wouldn't disappear just because you stop pretending to be unwell.
The actual paper is very light on individual details about each case.

Oh, I remember that one! It always made me laugh, especially the one about "compulsive writing behavior"

But my favorite part of the whole story was how the actual mental patients, the real crazies, saw right through the deception.
