What, no Sebastian The Crabcakes?

I cruelly gave the same pic to my vegetarian boss a couple years ago, after he gave me grief for eating sushi.

*applauds Specklet*

(people who get in your face about what anyone chooses to eat need to mind their own business)

(note: not meant as a swipe on vegetarians or vegans. i respect anyone who has deeply held principles that they feel they need to stick to. I just hate it when obnoxious ones get in the face of those who disagree.)

I hate it even more when the veggies or vegans that get in your face over eating an animals are wearing leather shoes.

Me too, LF!

Disclaimer: was vegetarian for 27 years.

27 years? jeez, that's stick-to-it-iveness. I don't think I've managed to do anything besides breathe on my own for that long.

I was raised vegetarian, Jon, so it was pretty easy. Plus I was healthy as a horse... Now I eat red meat about four times a year, and have chicken/fish about once a week.

And I wear leather shoes.

Wow. Aside from the occasional pasta during Lent (and even then we'd use it as an excuse to have fish, except for my Dad, who has a serious seafood aversion), I don't think a vegetarian dinner was ever served in my family when I was growing up. The only vegetarians I knew were the parents of the kid up the street. They also were into meditation, and one of their older sons lived on a kibbutz for a while. My folks thought they were weird and that their younger son was a spoiled brat. They were more or less right, but these neighbors were also the first people I knew to own a computer, an Apple IIe. Me and the youngest kid spent hours on it playing video games and reading his brothers stash of girlie mags that were under the couch. (we were 9 and had only the vaguest idea what we were lookig at).

You might just be fooled by synthetic leather, LF. My boots look like they're leather after they've been broken in, but they aren't. Bonus point: they've lasted years longer than the expensive real leather boots I wore long ago. I think you can even light them on fire and not cause any damage, but I haven't tried yet.

I've known a lot of immature, pushy vegans for sure, but I've known twice as many otherwise nice omnivores who go out of their way to be a dick about what I do or do not eat. I don't really understand why they care.

Fark had a "make a movie prequel" thread and some sicko make "Spawning Nemo". Heh.
