Sunday afternoon community radio music genre? So I've noticed that whenever I listen to community-sponsored radio on Sunday afternoons (right now I'm listening to WFMU, I sometimes listen to KPFA), I hear a certain genre of music that I find tolerable for just a few songs. Is there a name for it?

It's kind of bluesy, kind of folksy, kind of sentimental, the lyrics typically have a vague theme of "these are the lessons I've learned in this difficult life -- hear me and learn", and it's wrapped up in a fairly conventional and very tame rock & roll package -- drums, electric guitar, bass, lead vocalist, 4/4/, refrains, etc., but the music never gets agitated, never rocks out, just remains pretty mellow & polite.
I must admit that it does kind of mirror my state of mind on a typical Sunday afternoon, and maybe that's why I can only tolerate a few songs. At any rate, does anyone else know what kind of music I'm talking about, and if so, is there a name for it?
