Radio TDF Old stuff, new stuff, stuff I haven't heard for years. Happy late sometime on Friday!
Oh, good. i needed some music.
In the time of two mostly fruitless phone calls, i've gotten to see a wisp of white flurry turn into a blank sheet of white. There go my hopes of hoagies and short term future.
Where's Captain Weed when you need him?

I hope you like this lot, then - not sure how much is smoking material, though. I guess I should start writing out what's been playing...

We're much preferred customers by The Dissociatives
Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack
Celice by A-ha
I Don't Feel Like Dancing by The Scissor Sisters

No worries, i'm could possibly peddle my urine at this point.
Not on purpose, just by apathy.

I'm Going To Make You Love Me by The Jayhawks
Terrible Storm by Tegan And Sara
Seņor (Tales Of Yankee Power) by Bob Dylan (the link feels somewhat superfluous)

I'm in!

Peddle your own urine? Well, better that than paddling in it, I guess. Hi initapplette/ Got U2? I have :)

Up To The Mountain (MLK Song) by Patty Griffin. I only got this album this afternoon it's amazing. I'm a fan, but was disappointed with her previous album. This, though, is as good as the reviews say.

No Blue Sky by The Thorns (a one-off group featuring Matthew Sweet, Pete Droge and Shawn Mullins. Had massive promise, were great live, but one album was all they managed)

Rain Come Down by eastmountainsouth. Again, an act that managed one album, which is a real shame IMHO.

Promises by Badly Drawn Boy
Someone New by Nicolai Dunger (new album out: yay! It's in his native Swedish: hmmmm)
Where's Summer B? by Ben Folds Five
Stay (Faraway, So Close!) by U2

I dug it out :)

Any changes in your opinion of Zooropa?

Fuck It I Love You by Malcolm Middleton (I can't help but think it's not the greatest choice for his next single, but what do I know?)
In-between Days by The Cure

I haven't really had a chance to play it yet - I raced home from work this afternoon, dug it out, burnt it and put this set together. But I'll give it a spin later. We'll see :)

I like the Sol Seppy one that's on at the moment (just tuned in).

Move by Sol Seppy
Blood On My Hands by Veruca Salt
10AM Automatic by The Black Keys (I love the solo in this)

Sol Seppy is pretty good, greycap - she's just got the one album out at the moment. She has worked a lot with Sparklehorse, who I'm slowing getting into.

Dear TheDonF,

You are making it very hard to get out of the house! Don't worry, it's a good thing. Thanks for this set, it's been great so far!

Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols (because I still love that song)
Further by Long-view (I think they've only recently added the hyphen as there is another band with the same name.)

Yay! Thanks wimpdork :)

Oh this is just awesone -- Harrowdown Hill is my favorite song on The Eraser.

You Only Call Me When You're Drunk by Ed Harcourt
Harrowdown Hill by Thom Yorke
(written about the place where David Kelly was found dead)
Include Me Out by dEUS

Tis a good album, wimpdork. I should pay it more attention, though. Now a bit of dEUS to finish everything off.

Thanks, TDF!

No probs - I hope it made Friday afternoon go a bit quicker. Now, hopefully I have wine somewhere. It's raining outside and the nearest booze shop is far enough away that I'll get very wet. Stupid northern hemisphere.
posted by TheDonF 02 March | 16:38
That was good. Thanks TDF!

No worries. I initially wanted to have more well-known stuff in the set, but it didn't quite work out that way, I think. Unless of course you're me, in which case, it's all well known! Next time: 50% Britney, 50% Christina :)

Well, if you are planning a pop set, put in some of those ubiquitous boy and girl bands that we in the US have never heard of. ;-)
posted by initapplette 02 March | 16:59
Girls Aloud? I can do that. All Saints? Yep. Take That? Yep. The Sugababes? Yep. I can *shudder* even play you some Spice Girls if you really want... I wonder if I have enough stuff to do a full set of pop.
