I frequently got headaches if I read too much text on the monitor but the problem seems to have all but went away. I had not really thought much about it, but I think it was when I started using this.
Umm, you can do this without power toys. It's under display-appearance-advanced-smoothing of edged (or somesuch).
It's actually display-appearance-effects-use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts-ClearType.
And thanks, I had herd of ClearType, but had never got around to trying it. It looks much easier to read.
Using the Display properties page you can only enable or disable Cleartype. Using the tuner powertoy you get a slider which allows you to set the degree of antialiasing along a spectrum. To me, that's invaluable because the default is too fuzzy.
