OMG! TOYGERS! From the cover of the latest issue of the mere shadow that used to be Life Magazine.
I hear an elephant has to make love to a pig to create one of those.

Just love, or sweet lovin' down by the fire?

I want a Toyger

Stripes are a sign of intelligence in a cat!

(not really -- I just made that up. I like stripey cats, though.)

Hilarious. They're breeding them to match the tiger/domestic morphs they made over a decade ago.

The LIFE one still looks like a housecat to me, though (I have a light colored tabby in front of me at the moment).

I used to have a beautiful spotted tabby cat. He was a cross between a domestic tabby and a leopard that had escaped from the zoo. She mated with the tabby and was then caught and put back in the zoo. Because her babies were half normal cat, they were so tiny that they escaped through the bars of her cage, and one found his way to me.

Made it up? Naaah, not me, I'm a lawyer ...

Cool link.

I notice that the proposed Toyger breed specifications include mandatory disqualification for "evidence for an intent to deceive."

No deceptive kitties! Yay!
