Aren’t mothers the greatest? [More:]Okay, so that’s a rhetorical question, and even as strained as my relationship can be with my mom sometimes, I know that I can’t survive without her. She’s all I’ve got, and I’m probably all she ever had, so we’re two peas in a pod basically. Only problem is, there isn’t space enough for the both of us, hence all the conflict. But we are learning to co-exist, and the post linked to above was a note that my mother had been maintaining for the past month, monitoring my behaviour, watching out for any signs of distress, so as to tell my psychiatrist on our next visit. Which was today. I really appreciated the effort, and everything was spot on pretty much. Got another round of prescriptions from my doctor (she’s really good), and will be seeing her again next month. Just wanted to pop in here, and acknowledge my mom’s efforts, and give a shout-out to all you bunnies!:)

PS. Specklet—sorry about that; I was talking about this thread.
My mom is awesome. She takes care of a lot of things for me, mostly scheduling and paperwork and stuff like that. Think "secretary," or "vastly underpaid secretary," you should have a good idea. I went home this weekend because I was sick, with a full load of laundry (most laundry I've ever brought home), and woke up after some much needed rest to discover my mom had done it all. We definitely don't get along sometimes, but she's a peach, and I don't know what I'd do without her.

Glad to hear you're doing well, hadjiboy! Where did you end up getting a job? I remember you had a few threads asking about tech support and another one as well.

Heh. My mother is great as long as she's living on the other side of the world from me. Glad you're not in the same boat. Good to hear from you, hadjiboy!

*sighs* On behalf of moms, thanks for the kudos.

At this point in my life I not only am taking care of my kids (one of whom should really be out on her own by now; for chrissake when I was her age she was in kindergarten!) and my friends' kids but I'm taking care of my own mother as well. It's a long road and I have a feeling it doesn't ever end. But I guess I wouldn't trade it.

OMFG! Hadjiboy, your thread jogged my memory and caused me to recall a dream I had last night: My mom, (who I believe suffers from chronic depression) started hanging out at MeCha. I was happy that she had something to do to draw her out more, but horrified that she was HERE, watching us! Ceiling Mom! ARRRGGHHHH!!!

*jumps out of office window*

I adore my mom. I feel very lucky that we're as good friends as we are.

My mom emailed me the other day because I hadn't made an appearance on the family ML recently and hadn't called in a while. I really do owe them a phone call soon, but I think I'll wait till I hear about some news about a "job" I phone-interviewed for last night because if I do get this job, I'm going to be going back to California at least once a month until July for meetings and will need crash space.

My mom flew into town when I was in the hospital last month and stayed at the hospital the entire time I was there, which was four days. She slept in an uncomfortable chair. I wasn't *that* sick...I had an abdominal abscess. She's a really great mom and a pretty good person, too. Lucky for me given that my dad is a complete asshole.

My mom lives in OK and I in IL, which I'm still getting used to. She moved down there about two years ago and I've only seen her once since she moved, in January of last year when my sister had her baby. I miss her dearly, but she's figured out how to text so I hear from her a couple of times a week. she has a prepaid cell phone though and can't always afford to buy minutes, so sometimes we can't talk for a long time. I'd send her some, but I can never remember the kind she needs... But yes, my mom is wonderful.

My mom raised my brother and I alone from the time I was 10 and he was 5. We are so close now, it's amazing. I open my mouth and hear her voice. And I don't mind. Last August, she made a move from New Jersey to Washington State, the first time she's ever left Jersey. It's been an adjustment, to say the least, but we have e-mail and phone calls, and she and her beau came here at Christmas. I'm happy that she's happy, though I miss her a ton.

Given what chupahija is, I need to find my own family. I had thought that Regie and I were mama for each other, but that imploded when I told him about the butch who hassled me during the opening act at a Go-Go's concert--he hits on straight guys who want nothing to do with him when he gets wasted and I don't want to see him get hurt. Most of the guys I've been attracted to have nurturing qualities, but I don't have that sense about the one I'm interested in now--though I did have the feeling I could lean on him.
