I’m such an emotional fool→[More:]I read Robocop is Bleeding’s post about that girl yesterday, and it got me a bit depressed. Just spoke with my Granny over the phone, and feel like crying now.
hadjiboy, I think you are absolutely adorable and want to give you a big hug. Sorry, this is your valentine, which I have just realised I forgot to give you!
I feel like that often, to answer your question.
Robocop's story is actually designed to make you want to cry - it's a fine work of art that works to evoke empathy and reflection on the mistakes your own parents made, or your anxiety as to mistakes you make as a parent. This increases the intensity of the experience and is a good thing.
Another writer who writes excellent stories that make you want to cry is Alice Munro, my favourite Canadian writer and probably the best short story writer in English working today.
the thing is, I read that post and was just stunned. I thought is certainly stretched credulity to imagine that it might be true, and then I went to bed without reading his followup post wherein he admits that he was just winding us up. Didn't read it until I got home this evening. I was relieved, but felt somewhat abused, since I had thought about several times today. I didn't know he had a reputation for writing such stories.
I spent a majority of yesterday crying uncontrollably. I feel like this a lot. But after all the crying, there's the feeling of exhaust and relief. It's strange, but I like that feeling.
