Alternatives to Thunderbird for email? I decided I don't like Thunderbird for my email. I'd ask on AskMe, but MeFi/AskMe is down at the mo. I use Gmail for personal stuff; is there an easy way to sort through multiple Gmail accounts w/o signing in & out all the time?
Windows or Mac? And is there anything in particular that you don't like about Thunderbird?

Windows. Thunderbird dislikes:
1. font sizing is microscopic at my end, but when people reply and include my quoted text it's huge. I'd rather not use something ugly like courier (I'm a arial/helvetica).
2. sending to multiple recipients is klunky - I have to select bcc or cc individually for each recipient - it doesn't group all the bcc's or cc's in a single window, and I don't want to have to create a group bundle in the address book for one time mailings.

In gmail you can check other accounts — look under settings and it will let you add accounts for hotmail, yahoo, whatever. I'm not positive if you can also add additional gmail addresses — for example, your main address is main@gmail.com, and maybe you can use that to also check secondary@gmail.com and third@gmail.com? I'm not sure but it's worth a try.

I use gmail for personal, but I also have all my website emails directed to it, which is a different address.

What Brittanie said. It is a new feature of gmail (if you use POP) to be able to check multiple (up to 5?) email accounts.

Good luck.

I am so lame. I use (and like) Outlook Express. I have my gmail configured to download into it.

I tried really hard to like Thunderbird but I'm afraid I've just becoming to accustomed to the various quirks of The Bat. The Bat is a real power user e-mail client that can do all sorts of weird stuff. It's very customizable, can do lots of clever filtering, and you can do all sorts of funky stuff with templates. Be warned though, it does have a few quirks and is not for everyone.

If you're lame, essexjan, then so am I. I do exactly the same thing.

chewie, in Thunderbird you can just add all the recipients in a single "To:" field if you separate each address with commas. I'm not sure how to fix the quoting problem you mention, though.

Scary article about the people who write the systems that process the spam. || Another update on Joe Famous
