88 Lines About 44 Mefites I can't believe I actually did this. Good night.
There's something very, very wrong with you cortex ;-)
Sterling work, but I worry for your sanity.

There certainly is, in all the right ways.
Here's you're goddamn valentine:
# To: cortex
If love was words damning you with faint praise, i'd make sweet sweet mediocre commentary all night long that didn't amount to much up and down and all around until you begged for an honest complement and then your penis fell off.

eth's just pissed off because she didn't make the cut. amirite?!?!?!

Also, cortex, your rhyming talents leave me feeling a little funny inside.

wow, i so hate amirite
And the goddamn was because he wasn't doing the valentine thing.
For me to be in there would be weird and inappropriate.
i didn't say i didn't like it.

Ah, she's just razzin' ya.

Thanks, y'all.

hmm, maybe I should have used, "ba-dum-ching!".

Daylight and laundry maybe just make me tetchy.
i was impressed by the annotation.

I've decided I need to do something either so grand or so notorious that I make the next cut.

heh... I can't believe I haven't been able to listen to this yet. Right now I have use of the computer, but in a room with a sleeping husband. Earlier, he wasn't sleeping, but was working on the computer. It's always something. /not at home - camping out in another city - so sick of not having my own computer in my own space - wah!

Yeah, you got three mentions and dhoyt got two.
It's funny what different people pick out of things and make prominent.
i always did like the Rashomon element to things.

I considered titling its "...44 mefites (give or take)", but that seemed like pushing it.

The rhythmic match up goes well; i noticed that from reading it with the song in my head first.

I have to say, with all the raw material you had to work with , perhaps I should be relieved that you chose THAT particular meme to associate with Konolia.

BTW, following your links in that segment, I had no idea how widespread the "not wanting to be exposed to x" thing was.

bunnyfire: I had no desire to be too dredgy about it, basically, especially where active users were involved. Trust me, I dig it.

The anus thing was hilarious and continues to have legs as a mefi snowclone; those links are actually just a sampling of what you get if you go looking. Check out this google search to see what I mean.

What's worrying/impressive about this is that it doesn't feel strained at all.
posted by chrismear 15 February | 15:12
I have to admit that I get all tut-tutty at strained or badly metered parodies. There's a tremendous songwriter snob within me that would be insufferable (and get me in a lot of trouble) if I let if off a leash. So when someone just violates the flow of the source material when putting together a light-hearted parody, I boil with internal rage.

And don't get me started about the "rhyming" so-called poetry that my mom forwards to me and everyone else in her address book. Death, slowly, for the authors.

Which is to say that if this had felt very strained when I was working on it, it would never have seen the light of day. To the round file and speak no more of it, etc. And honestly, for every crazy idea I actually execute these days I have about ten that I don't, and eight of them are really bad.
