My shack in the woods. Yes, I am a whirlwind of mess. I've since cleaned up and moved the boxes out of sight, but I don't have a digital camera, so this is as good as it gets for now.

The nerve centre. See that big piece of furniture with the huge box of china on it? That's not mine. One day Our Lady of Perpetual Intoxication will finally take that away and I'll be able to put up a bookshelf. One day.

Oh, and get this: that nice Persian-style rug? Our Lady put it out there to dry. In a rainforest. In November. When she told me that I just snorted and said, "Yeah, that'll work."

*thinks to self, 'hmmmmm...I wonder how many people of either gender I could talk into a Galiano meetup this summer? I mean, there's lots to do, loads of accommodation, a couple of good pubs, and gorgeous scenery. Plus there's meeee! And my modesty, of course. Hmmmmm... Probably just a few, but boy would that be fun.*

That's a beautiful spot, and I totally love the area. I've not been to your particular island, but I've spent some time in BC. I'd be interested in a summer trip to Canruckia, but as to when totally depends on my work in the Summer. I think Silver would love a Camping trip, and I could make it an extended trip down to CA and visit my old Napa Valley Stomping grounds too. I too have house envy!

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

I inherited that book from my grandmother and read it as a girl (and many times since), so I probably have an extra fondness for its dreamy quaintness... The shack isn't on an island, but in the mountains; still it will maybe remind you of your place. :) It's the first thing I thought of. Try to ignore the "romance novel" cover (it is a romance novel, but not one of those heaving-bosom ones.)
