Ice Storm in New Jersey. Looks nice, but [More:]I'd rather have snow than ice. Here's some pictures while it looked good. The sun actually came out for about 10 minutes, and it really gleamed! This caused a three hour power failure for us. Some people are still without power.

Sorry for the big picture, but that willow was gorgeous in the sun.
This happened to us here in Kansas a couple of years ago, and I was without power for something like six hours. Very beautiful, very inconvenient, and when you have to walk to work, very dangerous.

I read a loopy "scientific journal" about bigfoot by flashlight during the power outage. It's kinda one of my favorite recent memories.

...and what a downer when Frodo got electrocuted by that downed power line.

Same thing here in PA. My son and I spent an hour chiseling the cars out of the ice this afternoon. I actually ended up having to climb into my car through the hatch because I couldn't get the doors open. Looks pretty though and we haven't lost power (yet).

Wow, unfortunately I didn't see anything quite so pretty around here (central NJ) today. But I did see lots of gray slush!

Ice Storm's are so dangerous but they make for such great photos. Thanks redvixen. We just had a bit of snow.

Nice shot, arse_hat!!! Beautiful day, too!
Amro, I'm near Great Adventure. I believe you are in the Princeton Area, no? I'd have thought you'd have had more snow, being a bit more west and north. Slush sucks, too.

Those photos are exquisite.

Worst part of the ice storm for us, in NY suburbs: We live in an apartment building and have a sort of subterranean parking garage. You have to walk down a rickety concrete stairwell to get there. No one from maintenance ever bothers to shovel this stairwell, and it took until about 7:30 p.m. tonight before anyone even thought to salt it.

I had to use those stairs four times today, and every time I thought I was going to fall down and die. It looked like harmless snow covered each step, but in fact there was a significant layer of ice underneath. Whoo!

redvixen, yes, I live in Princeton and work in New Brunswick. My commute today: not fun, not fun at all.

Nah amro, it's down the street. "It was built by Edward Chandler Walker, second son of Hiram Walker, founder of the world-famous Canadian Club Distillery, and it is named in honour of his older brother, Willis Walker." I walk through it most days as I circle the neighbourhood on a walk.

My sister in-law has been without power all day and they might get it back tomorrow. Trees and limbs are down all over. Getting out the front door is a challenge because of the half tree on the front porch. No heat, ten degrees outside. I still think they are nuts for not coming up 20 some miles to stay in our warm, electrified house tonight.

Ice storms are teh suxxors. Just last month we had one come through of my town of 200,000. Killed most the trees in town and left 90% of us without power for 10-14 days in 10 degree weather.

The small percentage of houses with power were playing host to dozens of people.

redvixen, your photos are beautiful. I had to look up 'ice storm' not too long ago. I wasn't sure exactly what caused them. Now I know. Glad your power wasn't out for too long.
