I actually got a card through the mail this year, but not from a sweetheart. It was from a friend and her husband in Ohio, and it had a cute kitty on it.
All the years I was with my (now ex-) husband he never got me a Valentine. I remember I got home from work one Valentine's Day and I could see through the glazed door on the mat a letter that had come through the post, it was a red envelope with a gold sticker on it. He remembered!
But no, it was for Ricky, the damn cat, from the two girl cats who used to live next door!
It's a sad day when your stinky old cat gets more Valentines than you do.
Jan, that is the funniest thing I've heard all day. My BF thought he might have to go away for work this week and I said if he did I should get flowers at work. He ended up not going away, but I have a bunch of tulips on my desk anyway. The card reads, "Baby... Have a great day and hopefully these will make everyone jealous!" I work in an office of 40 women. Enough said.
Jan, I had a picture in my head of Charlie Brown waiting patiently for Valentines while Snoopy had tons of them. Made me smile. And for what it's worth, my ex never remembered either. Holidays or Birthdays. One Christmas Eve he was at a football game. My Christmas gift was a tee-shirt he bought from a guy in the parking lot. Oh, the memories.
This year my hubby got me a nice card, and chocolates. I think I'll keep him!
I jut got a call from my building manager saying that there are flowers waiting for me at home (my bf is visiting his parents this week, so we're both single for V.Day).
I think that next year, I'm going to send some flowers or chocolate or a card to all of my friends; I wish V.Day were more about celebrating good friends and less about dreading being single/feeling guilty for not being single/commercialism.
