Who makes a boxer brief that does not completely lose its shape after being worn just a few hours, leaving one wearing what is essentially a ridiculous-looking pair of pseudoboxers? If I wanted to wear boxers, I'd buy them. Hope me, Mecha.
Is it possible you are buying the wrong size? What happens if you buy the next smaller size?

I'm already wearing one size smaller than my pant size, TPS. I'm not sure I'd be able to squeeze (ahem) into anything smaller.

This may very well be a fundamental flaw in the boxer brief paradigm. I guess that's what I'm asking.

Old Navy ones are the best that I've tried so far. They hold up surprisingly well for a single days' use when they're new, but wear out more quickly than I'd like.

single day's use. argh.

No experience with boxer-briefs, but I would say that Gap's underwear (and so I assume also Old Navy's) disintegrates ridiculosuly quickly. I used to buy bras there, and they just fell apart after a few wearings.

This thread is useless, etc.

I work out in Under Armour boxer briefs--they are very comfortable and keep their shape. I haven't worn them outside the gym, but I've thought about it.

what brands are you wearing now? i'm cheap and so typically use joe boxer or hanes and those retain their shape for several wears but not for the long term. I also get problems if I'm sitting at a desk all day. so far i haven't found a boxer brief that can last an office work day.

on preview: underarmor...hmm. i forgot about them.

Dolce & Gabbana work very well, I guarantee.

You get what you pay for in underwear.

Try Calvin Klein. They're expensive, but every guy I know who's tried them says they're their favorite.

and yeah, Gap sucks -- it's the Cambodian slave labor karma that comes back to haunt your ass (literally)

I was actually going to recommend Calvin Klein as well, but I wasn't sure why. I feel like there's a vague cloud of "Yay, Calvin Klein boxers!" floating above my head, made entirely of half-remembered and barely-overheard conversational vapors.

Or something.

I do like CK women's underwear, if that helps.

yeah, Calvin Klein's good, too (mine are old, and still Made in Hong Kong: I hear that the newer Made in Thailand ones are not as durable)

and mike, here's hoping you don't iron them, nothing kills stretch boxer briefs quicker than that
posted by matteo 12 February | 16:23
My boy enjoys Calvin Klein boxer-briefs, although he rarely wears them for an entire day (only for working out and, ah, special occasions).
posted by muddgirl 12 February | 16:24
matteo, I don't even iron clothes that need ironing. I have a pair of pants that I've never worn because I don't own an iron and they're too wrinkled for dryer or shower de-wrinkling. Yeah.

Thanks to everyone so far!

This may seem rather philistine but I've found Hanes "Comfort Stretch"(?) hold up rather well... they expand a little but always spring back after a wash and they have a soft waist band. I've had a few pairs for well over a year without issue.

Björn borg have several different fits, and models that are cut so that they 'follow your jeans' when you sit. They fit snug all day. I know this because I pamper my picky man with a pair whenever I can afford to. They come in such great colors! click the dancing lady on the left to find the undies

I enjoy Stanfields.

I prefer Commando™ boxer briefs. They're so comfortable that it almost feels as if I'm not wearing underpants.

Looks like LFR has gone on record for wanting some penis pics.

The ones I buy at the Polo outlet store are the only ones I have found that I like.

Jockey Pouch Midway Brief. I used to wear them a lot. Then I had a conversion experience and now I wear actual boxers (J Crew broadcloth). Boxers should absolutely not be made of stretchy cotton and boxer briefs should not feel like boxers (otherwise, you know, why not just cut out the middleman?).
I think you'll find that the pouch eliminates having to squeeze into your undies, too. At least the uncomfortable part; the legs stay snug all day.

I have nothing to add except that I knew who the poster was as soon as I read the first half sentence of the post.

Also, I'm in Atlanta! And on the computer from the hoe-tell! I'm off for a free cuppa joe and then to training class.

I didn't even read the comments here, so good luck with all that, then.
