Those clever spammers! So I just had the best piece of junk mail in a long time→[More:] The headline was the usual "Rjolex wjatches v1agra" nonsense. But then I noticed the "From" line. The email was listed as from "Not Spam."
You know what's awful? The once-in-a-thousand-times that the randomly generated sender name matches somebody I REALLY KNOW. It's happened twice, once with another MeFite (and I don't know the real names of many of you) and once with an old friend I'd lost touch with 20 years ago... Ouch.
I use Mailwasher and have a filter set so anything that's from someone not in my address book is flagged red, and I can preview it on the server before downloading (or deleting, which Mailwasher will do if I don't approve the email).
These days the only spam I get is from Eideteker, and those are secret coded messages anyway.
psst, Eid, I will send the $$$ for the cIaLI$ on Monday and will also apply for my pre-approved loan at the same time.
