That's an "oh shit" moment, to be sure. Oddly enough, it has happened to my mom TWICE, and never to me. Heh heh.

Dude, on two different occasions, I've had cops come to my apartment looking for the previous tenants. I wonder if we're drawn to haunted residences.

The cops used to show up here - looking for us - but only because our old neighbor downstairs heard voices in our head. I know he did because the cops told us so.

Thanks mats. What a suck day. I just knew one of us had done something (we've owned the house for seven years, only one previous owner). . .and I kept thinking "Please let it be his parking ticket. Please let it be his parking ticket. Don't let it be ME."

Gah, how nervewracking! I'm glad it turned out okay, rainbaby.

It makes me thankful that the previous owners of our house were elderly Mormons who lived here for 13 years.
