Emcee Squared Team 2! Now hiring 9 people with limited artistic talent. This square will be done completely using MS Paint.[More:]
I'm interested in using Wolfdog's funky organization scheme proposed in the earlier thread. It's more challenging, but cooler and more fun. Any thoughts?

Oh, and I'm in, so we need 8 more.
If we do Wolfdog's scheme, there will be three beginning squares that are completely independent. I would suggest in that case that we all agree on a background color to use to keep things coherent and make things easier on everyone. Would that be cheating? Well, we're Team 2 for a reason, right?

Can you sign me up as a back-up? I'd like to give other "untalented" bunnies a chance to participate :)

You guys! You shouldn't sell the lack of talent aspect, because I don't believe that, and the result of the emcee proves it ain't so. Lack of experience, ok maybe. But not lack of talent.
posted by iconomy 01 February | 12:44
me? I really am untalented though [not false modesty]
posted by gaspode 01 February | 12:52
Lack of experience may be a good way to look at it. Or lack of time, or lack of ability to create a really slick-looking finished product. What's a good shorthand way to express that?

The lackeys?
posted by iconomy 01 February | 13:10
Like mudgirl, I will step aside for other bunnies that wish to participate. If you don't have enough peoples, count me in!
posted by LoriFLA 01 February | 13:15
you guys stop with the stepping aside! If you feel like playing jump in with both feet!

It's always good to have some people who already have some experience sign on because it makes things go a bit smoother, and the more you do, the more interest you kick up for new people to join, so it's all good.

And really, if it weren't for our regular joiners in the beginning of emcee it never would have continued. It was after we had done a couple that a lot more people got interested.

The lackeys?
The Trabant Garde.

(Trabant: arguably a little clunky, but unpretentious and regarded with tolerant affection.)
posted by Wolfdog 01 February | 13:34
Yeah, how about I count LoriFLA and muddgirl as in, unless we get a bunch of people clamoring for places at the end, in which case you can step aside.

gaspode, are you in?
posted by agropyron 01 February | 13:34
Wait, is Team 1 already full??
And we can only use Paint?
:(

Dang. Looks like I'm sitting this one out, you guys.

What muddgirl and LoriFLA said.

citusfreak, is #1 full? I don't think so.

Gaspode is in. Like Flynn.
posted by taz 01 February | 13:45
Well, Paint or similar. Whatever you use, just use the basic tools.
posted by agropyron 01 February | 13:48
It's never really been lack of talent, so much as lack of tools.
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 13:54
Oh I'm in, yeah. I thought I made that clear. Only to my brain then.

Does mudpuppie want to sign up for this one? She posted this over there.
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 15:59
I am all about MS Paint. Just check out my vox and you'll see that I absolutely must be in on this.

I really, really don't want to use Paint. It's actually a lot harder for me to use than Photoshop. Thanks, though! :)
posted by mudpuppie 01 February | 16:18
So it's:
agro
me
LoriFLA
box
gaspode
wendell
kyleg

2 more. citrusfreak? anyone? bueller?
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 16:34
So we have:
me, muddgirl, LoriFLA, gaspode, box, wendell, kyleg. Room for two more!

Does anyone want to volunteer for the three starting squares? You'll do a square with no constraints other than (possibly) a common background color, that will be connected on four sides.

Three of us will also volunteer to do squares that tie together four existing squares. Who's up for the challenge? I'll do one of these.
posted by agropyron 01 February | 16:35
Hmmm....so what would I have to do?
posted by bunnyfire 01 February | 17:03
agro - I'll take one of the "four existing squares" one; I liked having to merge disparate elements.
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 17:53
I'm in, if there's still room. Do I have to have Paint, though? I only use Photoshop. If it helps, I have absolutely no talent!
posted by Eideteker 01 February | 18:06
Eideteker, I was just thinking of you! I've been meaning to send you a quick tutorial on MS Paint. I've read a couple times that you wanted to learn how. You don't have Paint?
posted by LoriFLA 01 February | 18:12
No, I don't want to learn how to use Paint. I'm in mudpuppie's camp on this. I'd just like a tutorial on how you folks do whatever brilliant work you do in these emcee things. Is it cutting and pasting found art? Just plain graphic design skills? I've made icons and animated gifs, but that's pretty much a whole-canvas thing. Also, it was almost exclusively pasting things.
posted by Eideteker 01 February | 18:21
I don't think we should specifically limit it to MS Paint - I think appidydafoo used photoshop or something like it in the last Emcee set, and it was great.
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 18:30
Eideteker, if you look at Square 2 from last time, there wasn't much pasting from existing art. Most of it was "hand" drawn using very basic tools. It seems like having one square with a bunch of pasted art and the other squares with a more rough, basic look, would be kind of odd.

That's why we don't care which program you use, but we're specifying that it should be done with basic tools, like paintbrush, fill, airbrush, or whatever.
posted by agropyron 01 February | 18:32
Man, I am like the least qualified person to do this, then. EVER. I have tons of experience, but no talent, and I use only the high-end tools.

I'm scared that it'll be so bad I won't be allowed at the big kids table next time around.
posted by Eideteker 01 February | 19:11
Ok, that's it. I'm taking a page out of taz's book and declaring that Eideteker is participating in Emcee Squared Team 2. So we only need one more person :)
posted by muddgirl 01 February | 19:56
Okay, MS paint is the app that comes with the operating system, right?

Soooo....can I play?
posted by bunnyfire 01 February | 20:17
Yes, bunnyfire! You're in, and we're full. I'm about to walk out the door so I can't send out participation emails right now, but everyone reference Wolfdog's chart that I linked in the original post and decide what kind of square you want.
posted by agropyron 01 February | 20:55
I'll take whatever, as long as I'm not an initial artist. I would like either a 2nd level or a 3rd level tile.
posted by Eideteker 01 February | 22:19
I've got old-fashioned Christmas candy and a chisel. Want some? || Bunny! OMG!
