Oh Bleep - A censor gets a wee bit over-enthusiastic. →[More:]Has anyone actually watched The Queen? I missed it in the theatres and am looking forward to the dvd release. Should I be?
Once on the radio, I heard Ashton Kutcher doing a commercial for Punk'd. He used the word "assholes"- they bleeped "holes" but not "ass". I still think that's funny. Heh.
On "Top Chef" several episodes ago, they did these useless little nano-bleeps in the midst of Cliff and Mia ranting at eachother, so it came across as "Put your fucbeepking dibeepck away!"
Speaking of putting one's dick away, I saw The Queen. Liked the film (and LURRRRRRRRVE Helen Mirren), as much as I actually hate the queen.
Land of Hope and Glory Mother of the Free
How shall we extol thee
Who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider
Shall thy bounds be set God, who made thee mighty
Make thee mightier yet. God, who made thee mighty
Make thee mightier yet.

Falls on a Triumph line
I got my motorcycle jacket
But I'm walking all the time
South Atlantic wind blows
Ice from a dying creed
I see no glory When will we be free
This is England We can chain you to the rail
This is England
We can kill you in a jail
I wasn't crazy about The Queen, but most of that was due to the script. They tried way too hard to work historical trivia into normal conversation. I understand that the trivia was helpful to understanding the family dynamic (her father ascended the throne because his brother abdicated, the stress killed him young, and EII took over at an early age), but it just sounded like really forced dialogue to me, and it made me cringe. That, plus all the news footage of Diana -- I dunno. Just thought it should have been done differently. (At least they didn't play Candle in the Wind, though.)
