widdly widdly widdle widdle Swiped from BoingBoing: videos of "the 20 greatest guitar solos". I always loved the solo in Mercury Rev's "The Funny Bird" for its simplicity but awesome coolness. What else is missing from this list? (note: no one mention Yngwie!)

I'm old enough to have seen dozens of these lists come and go, and some of the thrill has gone. So I'll just confine myself to the following mild outburst:

November Rain over Sweet Child? That's really bizarre.

Uh, yeah, I really didn't get that either. Some of the tracks listed feel as though they're more about the song than the solo, but that doesn't follow with November Rain.
/I had a friend at Uni (it's true, go figure!) that was utterly infatuated with Axl and November Rain was "their song". She filled up a 90 minute cassette entirely with that track, and would listen to it all the time.
