The most important post he ever made [More:]What are your favorite "public" wedding proposal stories that can still be found on the Internet?
This sort of thing always makes me teary. In a good way!

MetaFilter knew I was going to pop the question before anyone else did. (And I was cheered on by skyscraper, Kafkaesque, MiguelCardoso, and my friend stavrosthewonderchicken) Holy crap, almost six years ago?

And look at you now, ColdChef!!!

It's wild that internet proposals are so common they're almost passè.

ColdChef! I just added your account of your proposal to my favorites. That was just... perfect.

Now I'm all mushy.

Slight derail. In Vegas last September I and George's two sisters had gone to watch the Bellagio fountains at around 10pm. Big crowd, big show, fun for all. As we walked back down to the Strip along the balustraded walkway, this guy standing near us got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, with a beautiful ring. She said yes, we all cried and I wish, oh how I wish, I'd had the wherewithall to take a photo of the moment to email to them later.

We were there! Nobody else noticed, they were all walking by, but we witnessed that special moment. It was beautiful.
