I heard about that earlier today. I knew that drinking too much water too fast could be fatal but it just isn't something you would normally need to worry about, so it was weird hearing about that happening.

Anyway, as I understood it, the woman that died was trying to win a Wii for her children.

It happened here. And yeah, she was trying to win the Wii for her kids, which is the saddest part of all.

Sometimes I think we don't appreciate the bleak, quiet desperation that defines most peoples' lives.

Boy, I said that without even reading Bill Moyers's quote on the blue: "the bleak realities of powerlessness that shape the lives of ordinary people" ...

...This is probably the saddest thing I've read in a while. That poor woman was just trying to do something wonderful for her kids ends up debasing herself for a bunch of radio-jockey morons and then dies! Sometimes I wonder what kind of warped sense of humour the universe must have.

I sure hope that radio station gives her kids a Wii, it's the least they can do considering they contributed to the death of their mother.
