Windows personified. In Japan, where everything is cute, it's become popular to develop supercute, anthropomorphic personifications of inanimate objects, particularly PC operating systems. The trend has spread to web browsers, hot sauces, and console gaming systems, some times with sexy results. Naturally, even wikipedia is personified. Also, meet Sea-Monkey-ko

It has been suggested from time to time, that the breast sizes of the individual OS-tans represent their RAM requirements. Because Windows XP is considered a memory hog due to its increased resource consumption, XP-tan is incredibly well endowed (and she has no qualms about getting "upgraded" from time to time).

I actually know a gal who cosplayed as WinXP-tan. She carried around a huge BFG which she called her virus-killer.

Other folks have cosplayed as -tans, too.

At my hometown con, I saw a "blue screen of death" cosplayer. I thought I had a pic somewhere, but I can't locate it. Basically, she was dressed in all blue, with a large placard around her neck showing the error message - this program has performed an illegal operation..."

BTW, I heart Win2K-tan - she's totally hot.
