Isn't it cool how bunnies and squirrels and birds are all unafraid to hang out together? They just know none of them will eat each other, even though, for example, a squirrel is considerably larger than most birds.
I read or heard somewhere that the reason those animals aren't afraid of each other has to do with eye positioning on their respective skulls. That eyes placed more to the sides of skulls are traits common to "prey" species. Maybe the squirrels, rabbits and birds see the eye positions and recognize that those animals aren't a significant threat.
I think you're right, LF. I know that, when training intelligent birds, you are not supposed to look at them face front, but rather with your head turned slightly. A direct look indicates predatory behavior, and they won't socialize with humans well.
That said: oooooh wook at the diddle bunny and skwerrrrrl!
