Ruh-roh.
Iwao Takamoto, the animator who created the beloved Scooby-Doo and directed the cartoon classic "Charlotte's Web," has died. He was 81.
Rerry Rad. roo-hoo.

(also, have you ever noticed how much Fred resembles Alan from Josie & The Pussycats?

I think they might have been secret lovers.

I'd never heard of this guy before this morning, but it's very sad indeed. One of those people who touched my life and I didn't even know it.

Same here, dano. Scooby-Doo is one of those shows I find unwatchable as an adult, but man, as a kid I ate it up.

jonmc, the "bookends look" is something my partner and I actively work to avoid, but it gets tough the longer you're together. And Fred and Alan both had a thing for ascots, so they were in trouble right from the start.

Well, yeah the ascots was the big signal flare to me, too. If the straight guy is reading the code then maybe it's time to recalibrate the crypto-machine.

But if Alan and Fred were lovers, and Velma was knockin' boots with Alexandra from J&TP (and I think she was, that leaves a lotta unsatisfied ladies. And Alexander was just too much of a pantywaist, so that left one man to satisfy Daphne, Josie, Valerie and Melody. Why do you think the called him Shaggy??

Or - what do you think made him such a great Dane?

Oh no. Interspecies Erotica!

Like "Gilligan's Island", I loved it as a kid, but I am embarrassed to watch it as an adult.

There's an interview at Cartoon Brew

Bummer... I had a Scooby lunchbox when I was a kid. I'd be proud to carry it now, too (what?). I used to love when they'd unmask the ghost. Great companion to my Nancy Drew books.

And his killer would have gotten away, if it weren't for those pestering kids.

I'll down a couple of scooby snacks in his honor. bummer. Count me as one of the mesmerized youth - I agree it's a tad slow for adults.
