07 January 2007

Goddammit, I'm depressed today. [More:]I've had one of those days where I've just slobbed around the house in old sweatpants, eating leftovers from the fridge.

I feel old, fat, lonely. Very lonely.

I'm going to take a 'mental health day' tomorrow, clean the flat, make some healthy soup, throw away all the junk food and try and get my head into better shape.

Too many carbs are not good for me.
Tomorrow sounds wonderful --- a good remedy for that draggy feeling, and a treat in its own right!

I've been having that blech feeling myself, after a month of being small-time sick. The apartment's cluttered and dusty, and I've been eating mostly soup and toast.

I'm going to get out tomorrow, take a long walk, treat myself to a fancy coffee, go to the library, then come home and tidy up. Then I'll make a wholesome dinner and relax.

Ok, that exclamation mark makes it look like it's a surprise we've been preparing to spring on you all these years, but you get the idea.

I've got the holiday hangover, but the freakishly warm weather has helped. I dressed up to go see a show on Friday to combat the old and fat feeling, and it worked wonders. You're lovely essexjan, and this too shall pass.

Yes it will, rainbaby. I'm watching 'In Her Shoes' right now. There's nothing like a good chickflick to lift my mood.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And if that doesn't work, fuck the bastards anyway.

I feel ya, Eedge. Be strong.

Great movie. Toni Collette is one of my favorite actors.

I hope you feel better tomorrow. :-) Your day sounds great.

*sends essexjan a big hug*

Probably just an after-holiday letdown. I usually get mine over and done with BEFORE the holidays.

Throw in bald, stupid and unloved and you could be describing me.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
courage to change the things I can
the wisdom to know the difference
and the good luck not to fuck up too often.

Then I should definitely never treat you to our family special, 'lasagne' with rice. With bread. I love it, but it's truely carb-tastic.

Well I love you all. Fat, bold, old--even the chick-flick watchers.

I am a pity party pooper.

Sorry you're feeling down, sweetie. A mental health day sounds good. Don't forget to breathe. And when I feel lonely I sleep with a hot water bottle. It really really helps.

I sleep with a warm cat, Specklet. That helps too. Especially when she starts to snore and then her paws move when she has a dream.

There's scientific evidence that leads me to believe that eating too much carbohydrate is bad for me. I've been eating a lot of sweet and starchy stuff lately and my moods are all over the place.

I also find bread to be a problem, can't have just one slice, I get a taste of it and just keep on eating it. I never understood why that was until someone pointed out to me that it's made of the same ingredients as beer - grain, yeast, sugar - albeit in different proportions.

I get times when the only starch I can tolerate is rice.

The author of In her Shoes has a cameo--walking down a Philly street with someone else.
