Lookit me try and draw stuff! Crass self-promotional crosspostery.[More:]

I'm super jazzed about the whole tablet thing. It's, you know, fun. And somehow much less intimidating than actual paper materials—I have a hard time sketching on paper because it feels like I'm using something. Mistakes seem bigger somehow.

And I'm feeling really inspired right now by interrobang's new venture, which you should check out if you haven't and which he should really talk about: A Year In Comics. It is the Cadillac to my tricyle, daily-art-experiment-wise.
You're doing pretty damn well with the pen already! You definitely have some artistic talent.

I got a tablet for my birthday 6 months ago and I still can't draw a damn thing with it. My friend uses her pen exclusively now, instead of a mouse; she says it's much easier on the hand.

Oh and how cool is your Mother-in-Law?

Extremely cool, is how cool.

Oh, man! My tablet and I are one... ONE, I tell you!

(though I never could, and still can't, draw)

Congratulations on that perfect xmas gift - and the blog. I totally understand what you mean about "using something" and mistakes. But mostly, it's just about the "using up" for me; I'm mostly petrified when presented with actual art materials.

Looks cool so far, cortex. (In your self-portrait you look a lot like an old friend of mine.)

Thanks, BP. As for the resemblence thing, it's my curse that no matter what I do or where I go, I always remind someone of that friend of theirs. It's weird.

You don't need to learn how to draw, you can already! Look at that hand holding the pen! Cool beans!

I want a tablet so much, but there's always a few things on buy list ahead of it. Some day. Some day.

I ordered myself a Wacom for Christmas, but it's back-ordered, so I may never get it, because Jesus hates me (I pranked him after a night of heavy drinking, and he's never quite forgiven me).

I tried to post this on your site, but either you're screening comments without any kind of feedback to that effect, or it ain't working for me.

Hey, those drawings are great, cortex!

I don't know what I can say about my comics blog--I'm slowly making improvements, and I'm still getting a panicked feeling around six o'clock every night when I haven't started drawing yet.

I think my comics are crude now, and awkward, but I'm optimistic that they'll be ten times better in a couple of weeks.

IRFH, it was defaulted to screening, yeah. The lack of notification is something that (maddeningly) varies from one wordpress template to the next; I didn't realize this one doesn't. (I try on new templates with every blog I start. It's an, uh, adventure.)

Your comment is there now; I turned screening off until I can better handle the situation.

interro: thanks. I'm loving the comics, personally. Yesterday's staring-at-666 "Huh." panel made me laugh out loud.

The 666 post kind of bothered me, actually. Because now when I do my cartoon where The Beast tries to give out a phony number after a one-night-stand (555-7777), it's going to look like I stole the idea from interrobang.

And I consider this stupid comic proof that you're doing an excellent job, man.

That's too funny. :D

The friend of mine that you resemble is a little older than you, and married into Disney money a few years back. If you're ever in Florida and someone asks you if your first name is Christian, say YES.

I am both jealous and inspired by your energy, cortex! You seem to do a ton of things, all of them well, and yet you have time to be on the internet, too. This is great!

I'm just glad that the Laundryroom Swapmeet is back.

freckelfaerie, the trick is that the ton of things I do, I do on the internet. Double-barrelled bird-stoning gun!

cortex - I'm a terrible artist but a great art critic. I think you have a great eye for drawings - your grasp of positive and negative space is excellent. It's great that you're practicing your excecution!

I see drawings, but I do not see you trying to draw stuff. Pls post youtube video of aforementioned.
