Something Awful moderation? Anyone here a habitué of Something Awful? Can you explain why the poster of this comment was put on probation? (quoted inside so you don't need to click through if you don't feel like it...) →[More:]

Considering they wanted us to buy a portable system that gets 4 hours of battery life and runs ports of PS1 games poorly and has shit for frame rates, all while costing more than the competition and using a proprietary media format that they wanted to sell us movies on, I'd say "forgets-to-breathe-dumb" is about their target market.

Who knows. I used to frequently see complaints on other forums or usenet groups from people that were banned from the site for no real reason at all. I don't know much about SA since the site is not at all interesting to me, so I don't know if there are a lot of mods and some are just pricks or what.

uh, i'll try to find the meta thread. easier than explaining it.

actually i think i have the answer to your question too. one thing I have been told about SA is that if you are considered to be derailing a thread/not contributing, you get probation fast. after visiting the link (just read the comment earlier), I think that is what happened. he went off on a rant rather than discussing the topic of the thread itself. just a guess though.

Their bannings and probations seem to be pretty reasonable considering how many people post there. Gotta do something to keep the place moving.
