OK, I named all these files with the band name as "VU," but when you play them they're tagged with the fake band name that Pickwick Records made for them.

VU Noise I think this might have been a prepared sound loop for one of Andy Warhol's "Exploding Plastic Inevitable" parties, which is where the Velvets got their first exposure.

You Better Walk, It As You Talk It I think this is an actual VU song that they just never recorded for an album.

that auction caused me to dig up the peel slowly and see box set. so, yeah, i've been experiencing a bit of a vu renaissance.

(i was just telling mygothlaundry about this the other day: i had a rental car with a cd player, and i left work to go grab some lunch. i'm guessing that i was probably the only person in the world at that moment who was listening to white light/white heat while sitting at the wheel of a 2006 pontiac vibe in the parking lot of a hardee's eating a chili cheese thickburger. exclusivity is nice.)

Heh! Even without getting that specific, syntax, sometimes I find myself sitting on the train to work listening to something like a V.U. outtake or an indie band's self-released single and I'll wonder, "Am I the ONLY person on earth listening to this right now?" I bet odds are that yes, I am.

Which is fascinating and also sad, usually.
