AskMeCha: Anyone have experience with beer of the month clubs? →[More:]I'm thinking of buying my brother a few months of a beer of the month club. He seems to get a kick out of reading beer reviews and trying new beers, so I came up with this idea for his xmas gift.

Any suggestions or other alternatives? I did a quick Google search, and this one looked the best. But I'd love to hear any personal recommendations. Thanks!

I'm a big beer fan and I would like this gift if someone gave it to me. Dont know anything about this specific company.

I recieved something like this as a gift, about ten years ago. It very definitely wasn't this particular company, so my experience may not be all that relevant. Be that as it may: some of the beers I recieved were stale, long past their prime, and others just weren't that good. Again, ten years ago, different company. It's a great idea, and this one looks like it might be a little more on top of things than the one I had a membership in.

my experience with a wine of the month club was that they seemed to be driven by whichever company wanted to promote their product rather than quality (on one of the pages of the site you link to they seem to confuse a wide variety - never the same beer twice - with good quality; wouldn't it be better to repeat the best beers?).

it was good for a year to try a bunch of wines, but then i cancelled.
