It's powerful cold this morning It's -22 Celsius, which is roughly 7 degrees Farenheit. How cold/warm is it in your world today?
Currently, in zip code 32225 (Jacksonville, FL), it's 63°F and cloudy, with rain due this afternoon/evening. Yesterday, it was partly sunny and 73°F, and a perfect day to be outside.
Here in Minneapolis, -1 F (-18 C), and -17F windchill, when I left home this morning; it's now crept up to 3 above, whoopee. And we have set some kind of new record for getting the furthest into winter with no snow, not even a half-inch snowfall. Which on the one hand is fine by me, but if we're going to have the snarly bitter cold in any event, it'd be nice to have some fresh pretty snow to compensate. (Also, subzero cold + no snowcover = lots of dead perennials in spring, dammit.)
Lulu (my dog) is being completely hilarious about the weather change - she doesn't want to go out AT ALL. I'll say, "Lulu come on, let's go out!" which under warmer circumstances causes her to dance about but now she'll look at me and lay down and give me this, "uh screw you lady, not happening right now" look. Which is fine because she has the world's strongest bladder and doesn't have to go out every two hours. This morning when I took her out the first time she wasn't even interested in checking out the light dusting of snow we got overnight.
It's not all that cold outside -- it was 45 when I got up. But it's really fucking cold inside: The thermostat said 57 when I finally forced myself to get out of bed. I was freezing all night, despite the down comforter. When I got up this morning I realized that the cats had managed to migrate all the down to their end of the bed, which left me with nothing more than a thin blanket and the duvet cover up top.
The situation has been righted, and tonight should be better.
It was so cold last night/this morning that I was shivering in bed, and kept getting up to put more clothes on...guess I'm going to have to invest in some more blankets (in florida, my one quilt was plenty)...
