Haha My two bosses are discussing the relative talent of rap musicians to "other musical genres." →[More:] I shouldn't eavesdrop, but I'm finding this entire conversation hilarious. They sound very old: "It's just talking over a thumping beat! I bet they don't even really like music!"

I almost died a few minutes ago when I overheard my (much younger than me) boss telling her husband about a song she had just heard on the radio. She said the lyrics were "My milk jugs bring all the boys to the yard".

I just listened to Shakey Dog by Ghostface on the was home and I can say without reservation that that song is an act of intense musicality and the farthest thing from "talking over a thumping beat."

Although most frumpy boss types will hate it anyway. A lot of rap is bunk just like a lot of other music.

I've been listening to a lot of Gorillaz recently, which isn't really rap and isn't really pop. I've also been listening to a lot of hip hop mixtapes. I should have asked what their position is on DJs...
