More Rats Jumped Ship I just found out that two more team members are leaving. This means my team has had 66% turnover this year. All have left for jobs that pay at least $8-12k more for the same work.
Sounds like the company needs to get with the program.

They won't. They'll just continue to hire fresh grads at crap pay.

Well, good luck to them. It's always fun to hear about how the crappy company you used to work for is going down in flames, so now you have something to look forward to.

Ugh. That's how architecture firms are around here. They know they can snag grads who need to fulfill their IDP (intern) requirements, so they have 'em by the keehonkys.

66% is insanely high.

Didn't you just start this job? Or is this your old job you are talking about? (Sorry I'm so out of the loop.)

Yeah, the art museum where I used to work is about to hire the THIRD person for my old job in the 15 months since I left. I find that amusing as all hell. They're also looking for the THIRD education head since I left (that would be the job I applied for that my ex-boss refused to give me, although she was kind enough to offer me some of the responsibilities of that job in addition to my old one, since I was clearly bored enough to apply for a promotion.)

But that's the problem with Asheville: too many smart, talented, qualified people want to live here. They get here, become desperate & take jobs at absurdly low salaries. When they burn out, there's an endless supply behind them. It's depressing; even more so where, like at my ex job, there's a conscious policy in place to hire 'em cheap and work them til they leave in misery.

Where I work now is different. They genuinely don't have the money to pay anyone enough to live on. ;-)

I'd like some Christmas tripe with my Christmas trifle... || Let's figure out a Photo Friday theme for this week.
