Oddly enough, not long ago, my brother and I were talking about how the government ought not to place any restrictions on marriage at all --- gay, straight, multiple, whatever, so long as all partners are above the age of consent. It's no one's business but one's own whom we choose to marry, if we choose to marry.

One or the other of us pointed out that the biggest political (not ideological) objection to this is the possibility of sidestepping inheritance taxes, by allowing intergenerational marriage and the passing of assets to the surviving spouse.

(But, yeah, it stinks to have such an inflammatory movement, tacitly equating homosexuality with incest.)

Why the hell don't these hateful bastards just move over the border into Pennsylvania? Oh wait, even the folks in PA have had enough with these rightwing Santorumites.

What part of Equal Protection is so difficult to understand?
