this is the best cheese dip evah [More:]

Stoby's is famous for this dip and they sell tubs of it. So I wonder if the recipe was released (it was in a magazine called "rural arkansas") by someone to be mean or if someone just managed to create something that tasted exactly like it or what. No matter. Make, buy some good chips and enjoy.

CHEESE DIP

4 cups water
1 cup coffee-mate
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons mustard powder
1 lb. Velveeta
1 3/4 sticks margarine
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup picante sauce
1/3 cup chili (no beans)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Bring first 6 ingredients to a boil. Add Velveeta and stir until melted. Mix the margarine and flour together to make a paste; add to boiling mixture to thicken. Add remaining ingredients.
Yeah, it sounds a bit funky. Trust me. It is wonderful.

ONE CUP Coffee-mate?

I think your ingredient list has a misprint: Surely that should be reconstituted lemon juice?

I'm going to lean toward the something-exactly-like-it theory. Stoby's almost certainly doesn't use Coffee-mate or Velveeta (not name-brand, anyway), and the heavy reliance on stuff from the pantry is often a sign of a knockoff recipe.
