Spin me round again and rub my eyes I'd never heard of Imogen Heap until last Friday, when a friend from out of town was driving me home.[More:]

As we rode home, this song sounded so warm and comforting, but I've since read the lyrics and realized it's anything but.

Spin me round again and rub my eyes... this can't be happening.

It's still a gorgeous song and you need to hear it.

Speeding cars.

Formerly of Frou Frou? Great voice.

Oh wow... I love this song, arse_hat.

Moments of pure pop bliss with more structured parts around it... "It's in the A B C's of growing up," indeed.

Let Go, for anyone who doesn't have it. Before the reboot of the Last.fm site, it was consistently in the top tracks -- which was how I found it.

How is it there are so many bands making EXACTLY the kind of music I like, and it takes me years to hear about them?

This is awesome stilicho- thank you.

"Let Go" was also on the Garden State soundtrack. "Shh" is a great track, but it would take me an hour to usendit on dial-up, so maybe I'll do it tomorrow. THANKS for Hide and Seek--Imogen will be around for a long time and do amazing things. I've been meaning to check out her "solo" stuff.

BP - thanks for this. I've heard this track before somewhere and it's a great track. As to why it takes so long to find stuff you like, I know exactly how you feel - I'm constantly finding bands that I like which have sneakily put several albums out without any thought to telling me about them :)

You may also like Oh Me, Oh My & Getting Scared, both from one of her earlier solo works, I Megaphone. It used to be really hard to get I Megaphone, but it's recently be re-released, so grab it while you can!

If you like Headlock, you'll love the rest of the album, Speak For Yourself. I can still remember the anticipation surrounding SFY, stoked by the short, tantalising samples on her site. For a few days, all I could was refresh and refresh. It was the first (and only) time that I'd bought a CD on the day of its release.

I ordered a copy off imogenheap.com. Too impatient to wait for it to arrive, I gave in to my desires and obtained an illegitimate copy and listened and listened and listened. A few days later, an autographed, numbered copy from the first 100 arrived. It was beautiful, but I'd heard the material already. I'd ruined the experience.

I suppose it just goes to show that digital downloads will never replace the real thing. (But damn, is it convenient and space-saving).

She has a flickr account, too. My favorite song of hers is Hide and Seek.

BP, the other song I like that fits that "sounded comforting, BUT" category is "Hear Me Out".

iconomy that was the photo that convinced me to get a flickr account and investigate the processing. from there I learned how to do faux-lomos, and I'm slowly figuring out the crossprocessing deal. it must be a year or so since I first saw it.

Me too, lfr! I actually came in and sat down to type that same comment here because I forgot to mention it. I was really captivated by that photo and decided to get a flickr account because of it. Wild. I wonder how many people it influenced, then?
