Had a beautiful dream a couple of weeks ago [More:]The dream begins at the house of my high school friend J____. For some reason, his house is not in our hometown. It's in the Fells Point section of Baltimore. I have no idea what Fells Point is like in real life but in the dream, Fells Point is the place where the very best and the very worst live side-by-side, right next to each other.

We have to make it to the waterfront to see a transit of Mars. We head down the street to the beach. Dawn is coming. The sand is damp. I walk through a small puddle of chest-deep muck and make it to the other side sucessfully. We arrive at the edge of the water but have to go a little further.

I am physically alone but I know that my friends are with me; I just can't see them.

We push ahead. Now it is night. But brightly lit. I can see the little wavelets rising and falling around my feet. I look over my left shoulder to see the source of the light. Up in the sky, the stars have come together in the image of a globe. It's the Western Hemisphere, but inverted so that South America is at the top and North America at the bottom. The world turned upside-down, if you will. But in a very positive way. Very beautiful. The stars are bigger than they are in real life. Think of the big cartoonish stars you'd see on a holiday card. That's what these resemble.

I woke up from this dream at around three a.m. I remember saying to myself, there in the dark, "Wow. That's the most beautiful fucking thing I've ever seen in a dream." I grabbed the dream notebook and wrote the whole thing down so I'd remember it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Nice.

Cool. Yay for dream diaries. I read once that most dreams only last three seconds. I find that very hard to believe, given the detail I can remember from the majority of mine.
