Wow, I didn't believe you (didn't recognize source), but it's being reported by the NYTimes. Thank goodness!!! It was just more money he was going to hide offshore. He's a sleaze, if not a killer.
I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. While I was not pleased that he was going to be making money off the murders (but that's nothing new), I was morbidly curious to see what his publisher called "his confession".
Hmmm, did they decide the project was "ill-conceived" because it was in poor taste, or did they decide it was "ill-conceived" once they realized no one was going to shell out money to buy the book? My money is on the latter.
1) I was online when it first showed up and noticed that MSNBC.com had the Murdoch quote before FoxNews.com did. (It was the only reason I went to FoxNews.com)
2) The Murdoch quote has a typo ("his" where there should be "this") that none of the news sites I've seen so far have corrected.
3) You've got to wonder if physical printing of the book had started yet, and if so, how they will be disposing of them. (Send in the dumpster-diverazzi!)
4) How long until bootlegs of the special end up on YouTube... 5... 4... 3...

It was among the top sellers in amazon, and now, they're going to have to destroy the print run, which I'm sure is not as appealing as at least trying to sell them.
We can send a man to the moon, but we can't get a bookselling website's best seller list updated in real time? (Or they can't at least remove from the counting a book that ceases to exit?)
Stillcho, while it's possible they sent out review copies to papers and what not, I'm pretty sure there weren't many if any galeys given out. When bookstores initially ordered the book, they were just told it was a book by a celebrity and was going to be huge.
Right on the money, drezdn. I work at a bookstore, and we did a blind order for 40 copies of this book (title: Unknown, author: Anonymous). Apparently, this is standard practice in the industry, but our buyers were none too pleased when they found out what this particular "hot title" was going to be. (I heard the initial print run was 400,000 copies -- I wonder if they'll recycle them.)
