We have been talking on the telephone about various trains for fifteen minutes or so.

"I think I'm going to cut out a picture of a Ford Taurus station wagon. It's a very fast Ford Taurus. Have you ever seen a black Taurus with a racing stripe, maybe red, maybe orange?"

A station wagon?

"Yeah, of course, aren't you understanding me?

Well, yeah, but no, I haven't seen one. Are they street legal?

"No, they're big track race station wagons. You catch my drift? They can have racing stripes on the front, the sides, the back, and the top."

Do you own one?

"One what?"

One black Ford Taurus with a red or orange racing strip that runs over the front, back, sides, top, and bottom.

"No, I have to cut it out of the magazine first."

A big diesel truck starts its engine outside my open second-floor window.

"What was that?"

A big diesel truck starting its engine outside my window. There's a shipping firm across the street, so all day long, there's a lot of truck traffic.

"Oh."

As the truck drives off, a subway train arrives at the station at the end of my block with a rumble.

"What was that?"

The subway comes above ground right near where I live and there's a station at the end of my block, so all day and all night long, I can hear subway trains arriving and departing every ten minutes or so.

"Oh. Did you hear that?"

Hear what?

"Can you hear that sound through the phone?"

Oh, I think I can.

"That's the sound of Tauruses rushing by my window. There are ten of them, and they're all black."
